In my book this disk is simply the most indefatigable Thrash/Math-Rock released to date. While most of Meshuggah's other records are quite nice, they often tend to go somewhat overboard, with insane time relations that can often be taxonomic enjoyment-wise for all but the most attentive of Poindexters. Here the band calms down a bit and the music really shines. These great compositions are more succinct and to the point when compared to their earlier albums, whilst still unfolding maturely by means of enumeration. They actually "groove" somewhat, which is a welcome addition to their later output (also recommended is the wonderful EP, "I"). This is surely Meshuggah's crowning achievement, and is a perfectly realized, singular work. (Nominated for a Grammy in Sweden – will wonders never cease (?).
