| | | Cattle Decapitation is one of the fastest and most furious bands around, and their music is a direct outlet for some highly misanthropic views. The band members are devout vegetarians and animal rights activists to an almost perversely radical extent. Their older album covers are famously grotesque as a means to denigrate the "meat industry" (the artwork here is tame by their earlier standards, but the songs ARE NOT !) and the approach itself is a veritable slaughterhouse of brutal opposition. If it is true that the band's intention is to be overtly shocking, it should also be mentioned that they are able to compose and perform with much perspicacity and moral fortitude. While at times the lyrics touch on the unpleasant (suicide, rape, torture etc.), they also cover topics that range from the inequitable distribution of wealth to the complete disgust for humanity's place in history, arguably making this band Extreme Metal's most precious voice of modern protest.
