ReR/Recommended Records was established in 1978 by Chris Cutler and Nick Hobbs specifically to import and distribute new, interesting and experimental music from all over the world to the British Isles. The criteria for choosing the music featured was that the products should hold up under tough scrutiny in terms of artistic and musical excellence. Recommended has worked tirelessly for the past quarter century to discover and support new music of all kinds, with no allegiance to genre or style; music that extends the vocabulary of sound, that transgresses rules, that explores the possibilities of the latest technologies, and that captures great performances. Above all, we are interested in music that gives great pleasure and bears repeated listening, regardless of specific style.

Our titles are arranged both alphabetically and by specialist sub-genres.
